Bask-It-Style Takes the Step and Repeat Out of Celebrity Gifting

Jessica Glover

For Hollywood elites who can’t fathom posing with yet another energy drink, gifting guru Jessica Glover comes to the rescue. Her Bask-It-Style concept takes the step-and-repeat ritual out of gifting lounges, creating personalized totes filled with festival-relevant goodies and delivering directly to the stars’ hotel rooms! This year Emilia Clarke, Jude Law, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Liam Neeson received Sarah Mulder Jewelry, Killigrew peruvian cotton t-shirts, Louianna organic extra virgin olive oil, Wolf Blass wines and Green & Black organic chocolate.

Actress Tara Spencer-Nairn poses above with her family and sister-in-law Jessica Glover. This year, Bask-It-Style celebrated its 5th anniversary in a spectacular 8 million dollar penthouse from our fabulous city of Toronto, located at the Pinnacle Condo. Every year, Bask-It-Style, a twist on traditional gifting, gives busy stars on the go, at the Toronto International Film Festival. This year’s sponsors cover it all from beauty to fashion and from food to books.

“This year, in addition to our hotel partners, we’ve joined forces with UNLIMITED Personal Services to deliver our bags to the stars”, says Jessica Glover from GLO Communications, the PR boutique that manages the event, “It’s direct and discreet gifting at its very best”, she says.

Everyone gravitated towards the kitchen to chat with the team behind Louianna – that’s where all the yummy carbs were! The varieties of olive trees on Louianna Estates have become their trade secret. It is this particular variety of olives, which creates gives Louianna organic extra virgin olive oil such a distinctive flavour. It’s king of the Italian pantry and the backbone of Mediterranean cuisine. If you have a quality bottle of extra virgin olive oil, you only need a few simple ingredients to make a truly delicious meal. Louianna is light, buttery, and sweet. It works well for delicate dishes, and won’t overpower vegetables, fish, eggs, or potatoes. It is perfect for pesto. The company also makes a beautiful organic balsamic vinegar that is vibrant, crisp, and assertive – pairing perfectly with tomatoes, beans, rosemary, and eggplant. This vinegar supports other flavors without overcrowding flavor real estate.

Killigrew, an on-the-rise label that manufactures men’s knitwear and tees made from Peruvian pima cotton, made a great showing here. Started by a mother and son duo, Killigrew has a nice range of pieces, from sporty polos to alt punk graphic tees.

Mary Kay Cosmetics is really committed to connecting with a new audience, and it shows.  The limited edition glossy lip stains rock the boat, in a good way. The mulberry forest lip stain leaves a dramatic plum colour when the gloss fades away after multiple sips of champagne. Pro makeup artist Diane Carreiro was on hand to chat on about MK’s latest offerings.

Conair showcased The Curl Secret – a tool that sucks up hair and curls it – you know, for all those girl out there (me) who need a completely fool-proof way to work their locks.  Watching this curler work is the equivalent of seeing David Copperfield make a car appear on a stage in Las Vegas. It’s magical device that sucks up strands of hair into an enclosed chamber, beeps, and releases a perfect curl each time. There are three settings available and it retails for under $100. Now that’s R&D funding put to good use.

The ladies of Chique and Unique Home Staging did a fabulous job of decking out the 6,000+ sq foot space, which included a private enclosed rooftop pool overlooking the lake and downtown Toronto. Their Rustic Luxe theme drew upon reclaimed and found items in new, exciting, and luxurious ways such as the antique 1914 bird cage. The interior was savvy, sleek and very top drawer. The perfect backdrop for Glover’s celebrity and media gift giving extravaganza.

All But Gluten brownies are pretty much the bomb. Lush, moist, fudgey, and above all – rich. Gluten-free has come a long way folks.
